Christopher Robin loathed the Christmas begins with Christ Pooh shirt as an adult he felt his childhood was sold out my them. I love the written and illustrations stories hate the Disney and why oh why is pooh on a stupid red jumper it’s not in the original book. Nathan Daniels what was the Disney rubbish? No it wasn’t pooh is English he doesn’t know a gopher or wear a jumper, it was exploitation at it worst. Take time to buy the book and read it with a child the stories are funny and charming and absolutely all of it was lost when they made a cartoon of it. I agree totally. A little bit of my heart broke when a Danish au pair we had saw the books and without bothering to read them, proclaimed they weren’t as good as the ‘original. Sorry to say but he does wear a red jumper in the original version of The House at Pooh Corner. I believe this adaptation has been carefully thought out and contains a lot of references to the original works. The portrayal of the characters are very much like those in the original books, which are stories. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this heartfelt film with my 23 year old daughter who was brought up mostly on the non Disney Pooh, however, still has her very large Disney Pooh cuddly which her brother spent a lot of money on to win at the fair as she desperately pleaded to have one! I feel for the real Christopher Robin whose life changed dramatically when he went to boarding school and who up until that point loved having stories based on him. However, I do also feel the resentment he feels is more towards his parents rather than the popularity of the books and anything that happened due to that. You may find Giles Bandreth’s article regarding his meeting with Christopher Robin of some interest.
